Samer Abboud is Associate Professor of Global Interdisciplinary Studies and the Director of the Center for Arab and Islamic Studies at Villanova University. He is the author of Syria (2015, 2018) and the forthcoming Managing Syria’s Conflict: Enmity and Punishment as Illiberal Statebuilding (Columbia University Press). His work has appeared in several book chapters and journals, including The Journal of Refugee Studies, Citizenship Studies, The Journal of International Intervention and Statebuilding, and The Middle East Journal of Culture and Communication. Samer is affiliated with the University of Pennsylvania’s Middle East Center through their regional scholars program and sits on the editorial board of the journal Security Dialogue.
